ADHD Cats

We are a team of three illustrators who explore the topic of ADHD from three different perspectives in a comic strip format — from a male perspective, a female perspective, and the perspective of two children. The protagonists are four cats and tomcats who are living their lives.

Why ADHD comics?

According to estimates, around 5–15% of children and adolescents in Germany live with ADHD. Around 70% of them will continue to have ADHD throughout their lives—even if the symptoms change or become less severe in adulthood, ADHD remains a neurological peculiarity of the brain. The brain does not suddenly restructure itself. Around 4.7% of the adult population in Germany is affected. The typical main symptoms include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. However, ADHD manifests itself differently in each person and has far more facets than the stereotypical image suggests.

The plan

Every month or every other month, a chapter is published from the three perspectives of those affected. Three different drawing styles reflect three different points of view—from the perspective of a man, a woman, and a child.

All chapters are published digitally on a donation basis.

Enlightenment

For many neurodivergent people, it is particularly challenging to concentrate on specialist literature for long periods of time. Complex texts also rarely offer an emotional connection or a variety of perspectives—for example, in terms of age, gender, or personal life realities.

A comic, on the other hand, combines knowledge with images, emotions, and stories, making content more accessible. The topic is thus dealt with intensively in consecutive chapters.
